Chatham County Sheriff's Firing Range
Class will begin on time. You must be seated in the classroom at the appointed time (0900 or 1300). If you come in and class has started, you will be dismissed from the range.
You must attend class before you will be allowed to shoot.
All weapons will be cleared (empty) when you exit your vehicle.
You must wear approved gear, no sweat pants or cut off shorts. It is recommended that you wear BDU’s or loose fitting pants.
All shirts will be tucked in.
You must have all issued gear with you. You will not be allowed to fire without all of your issued leather gear (belt, keepers, speed loaders, magazines and their appropriate holders, etc.)
If your gear is found to be worn out, you will be issued a memo to draw new gear.
If you show up without all issued gear, you will be dismissed from the range.
There will be no smoking on the range. The smoking area is located behind the Training Unit.
No children, family members or friends will be allowed on the range.
After you have fired, you will be required to clean your weapon and have it inspected.
If you worked the night shift prior to your firing, you will have to return to the range after one complete sleep cycle.
If you are coming up to an “open range”, you will have to follow all other rules that are stated above (if applicable). If you are not certified, you will have to bring either your “chit” or drivers license to have a weapon and gear checked out to you.
Once the new parking lot goes in to use, you will be required to park outside the range, enter through the designated gate, clear your weapon, and go to the Training Unit.
All other range rules will be explained during class.
